The Instagram Roundup | September

September only means one thing to me, the end of Summer and back to college. Don't get me wrong, Autumn is definitely up there with my favourite seasons, the colourful leaves, the fact that it is cold enough to wear a grandad jumper but mild enough to not have to layer it up, it gets darker earlier but not too early, it's okay to light candles and get cosy inside. But then after about a week that all ends and it's -4 degrees, pitch black at 4pm and i'm trying not to slip on piles of leaves on the road that has turned to complete mush from the constant rain, while wearing every item of clothing I own.

But really though, Autumn is lovely, it just doesn't last long enough.

The Fashion Post | September Wishlist

Black Duster Coat  | Floral Blouse | Gold Mules | Lace Lingerie  | Red Chunky Jumper  | Boyfriend Jeans

I haven't made a wishlist in quite a while, and if you compare it to my May wishlist there is quite a contrast. At the beginning of the Summer I was looking at bright colours, short skirts, dresses and bikinis, now I am looking at slouchy jeans, baggy jumpers and over sized coats. I just need to live somewhere that it is always summer because I much prefer the look of May's wishlist.

But, I suppose it is time to face reality and deal with the fact that colder seasons await me. When shopping for now, I mostly have college in mind. It can be an almost impossible task to find college clothes that tick all of the boxes, they need to be comfortable, keep me warm AND look decent. A lot of the time I go with being comfortable and warm and end up looking homeless. So by investing in some high neck jumpers, good fitting jeans and anything else that can easily be layered up I am hoping that this won't be a problem anymore. I also threw in that gorgeous lingerie set from Rosegal because I just could not resist, how cute are they?!

What is on your wishlist for this month?

The Fashion Post | Lookbook

Dress: Sammy Dress
Coat: Vintage
Boots: New Look

A number of weeks ago I received a package from Sammy Dress, a global online wholesale supplier. Which sells pretty much everything. From occasion dresses to mermaid blankets, you name it they have it. I have vowed to myself only to ever work with brands that I myself have a genuine interest in as I want to keep this a completely honest and relate able space. I think most people can agree that there is nothing worse than seeing a blog or instagram page filled with nothing but promotions of products the person has no interest in and are very clearly just in it for the sake of a few free things.

Jeans: Vintage Levis
Shoes: Boohoo

With all this in mind I would just like to state how genuinely impressed I am with this brand. At first I was a little skeptical about it, the clothes are very cheap (to the point where it is suspicious) and the whole 'too good to be true' notion definitely crossed my mind. But when my clothes arrived they looked exactly as they did in the pictures and the quality was that of any other more expensive brand. I am very happy with the clothes and I chose and I am hoping they will see me through many different occasions throughout winter.

Trousers: Sammy Dress
Sandals: Forever21

The only downside to ordering from this website is that it takes a while for the clothes to arrive, so if you are looking for an outfit to wear in a weeks time you can forget about it. It takes about 2-3 weeks for your package to get to you, but if you have patience and order well in advance of a certain event it is most definitely worth it.

So I am happy to help a sista out and introduce you to this brand. You will either love me for saving you lots of money or hate me for making you spend money on clothes you probably don't need but most definitely want. Either way I can deal with that.

The Beauty Post | Seven Uses For Green Tea

Last week I had a stye (don't worry this is going somewhere) and while I was holding a green tea bag to my in an attempt to get rid of the problem I realized just how many uses aside from drinking it green tea has. Which prompted me to do some research to find out more and share what I discovered. The little tea bags contain a lot of goodness in them and it is well worth picking up a box to have in the house, handy for any problematic situations that may arise.

So let's get into those unusual uses.

Drinking
Of course the main benefit of green tea is it's original purpose, drinking it. As most people already know it improves your health, brain function can help you loose weight and even lower your risk of certain types of cancer. So this one is a no brainer, drinking green tea = good.

Facial Toner
For years now I have been making my own facial toner out of green tea. I boil up some of the tea, add in some tea tree and lemon juice, wait for it to cool to pour into a spray bottle and i'm done. I have a toner that is good for my skin, basically free and lasts me months.

Eye Problems
As I said above, I used one of the tea bags to help improve my stye during the week, which it most definitely did. But other than a stye you can also use it for dark circles and puffiness. By putting two use bags over your eyes you can reduce any swelling while tightening the skin around the eyes and reducing the dilation of the blood vessels under the eyes.

Hair Mask
I have read that pouring green tea into your hair can help the health and appearance of your hair. How exactly I am not sure. I have tried this one out myself and I saw some results, by massaging a mug full of green tea into my hair it made my hair look a lot shinier and helped with any kind of shedding I have. Just be sure to wash it out well after doing applying it!

Acne Treatment
It is a good idea to to try and buy face washes, moisturizers etc with green tea in them. Or better yet, you can do a diy job on it and simply rub green tea leaves on your face and body before rinsing. Because it naturally is filled with anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and antioxidants it can help clear up skin and fight off any new spots.

Lingerie Freshening
This one if a little weird and I have not tried it myself yet but, legend has it that if you pop green tea leaves in a thin cloth bag and out it into your underwear drawer any odor will be absorbed by the leaves and leaves your bras and knickers in wonderful nick!

Facial Scrub
By combining green tea with water and white sugar you can create a perfect face mask that not only tightens and improves the appearance of skin but also exfoliates it to a smooth finish.

So there you have it, seven uses for green tea that never in your wildest dreams have you thought of.

Would you be trying any of these?

The Fashion Post | The Pyjama Trend

Admittedly, the pyjama trend was something I was a little skeptical about when it first arose. Not because I don't want to wear my pyjamas all the time and have it be 'chic', I am definitely down with that. But because I just don't think I am cool enough to pull it off. I see celebrities and other bloggers wearing the look all the time and they look amazing but I just don't see how I can incorporate it into my not so glam life. I can't imagine wearing a silk matching pyjama set to the pub for pints or donning a metallic slip on the overcrowded train to college at 8am.

But this is where I was wrong. Recently I was in Penney's (Primark) and I saw pyjama style tops everywhere (and you know shit is about to be big when it's all over Penneys). It was only then that I realized how possible it is to easily incorporate the trend into my wardrobe without looking like too much of an idiot. A pyjama style top can be easily paired with some relaxed ripped jeans and boots or a pair of silky wide leg trousers can be teamed with an over sized denim shirt. The trend however goes further than just a top and bottom, it comes in all shapes and sizes and in the form of slip dresses too, long or short they are suitable for almost every occasion. I feel my picks above perfectly showcase the versatility of the trend at a completely affordable price.

What are your thoughts on this trend, do you love or hate it?

The Fashion Post | Floral Trousers and Rust Cami

Trousers: Penneys/Primark
Cami: Penneys/Primark
Boots: New Look

These trousers are quite possibly the comfiest item in my wardrobe. Perfect for travelling, because they feel like pajamas you will be comfortable during a flight or car journey and still look like you made an effort. I paired them with an orange/rush cami also from Penneys to bring out the colours of the print in the trousers. I am hoping the trousers will easily transition into Autumn and Winter so I don't have to hang them up for good now that it is September, because they are just too cute to hide away.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

The Beuaty Post - Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Review

Shellac nails have become a huge trend in recent years, and I personally love how they look. However, while they do look amazing and last longer than a normal manicure they can come at a price, a price that I, as a broke student am not willing to pay.

Having seen and heard a lot about Sally Hansen's 'Miracle Gel' nail polish, I thought I would give it a try for myself. Knowing that I was travelling for three weeks over the Summer I took that as the perfect opportunity to test the product out.

The product is a part-lacquer part-gel manicure system that claims to last up to two weeks. For just under twenty euro I purchased both the colour and top coat. With a huge range of colours to choose from, I went with a neutral pale pink to play it safe. I applied on both my fingers and toes, two layers of the colour polish to clean nails first and then the top coat over that once dry. The application was straight forward and didn't take long.

Onto the important part, did it work? I would give this product a big huge 'meh'. It didn't take very long before a couple of small chips appeared, but nothing too major. Admittedly I was travelling around a lot, constantly moving from city to city, walking around, doing activities and lugging suitcases and backpacks with me in the process, so my nails were exposed to quite a bit of labour. With that taken into account I would like to see if the varnish would last longer in a different environment. After about a week and a half I eventually gave in to looking at my miserable chipped nails and picked it all off and bought a new varnish to paint them with for the rest of the holiday.

Overall, I do think the Miracle Gel polish lasts longer than a normal nail polish which I am happy with, but it did not last as long as I had expected and most certainly does not last up to two weeks as it claims to. The product is a good cheaper alternative to shellac nails, but I would not recommend anyone to try it if they are anticipating amazing results from it.

Has anyone else tried this before? What are your thoughts on it?

The Fashion Post | Celebrity Get The Look - Emma Watson

It has been a while since I have made a celebrity inspired 'get the look' post. Possibly due to the fact that I find it hard to find celebrities that I feel are worthy enough of making the post about. I don't know about everyone else but I personally am sick of seeing people like Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian and Rhianna all over social media. It seems that a lot of young people these days aspire to look, dress and be exactly like these fame hungry, talent less celebrities.

Which puts me in a difficult situation sometimes, do I make a post on where you can pick up a copy of some  nude bodycon dress one of the Kardashian's recently wore, feeling secure in the fact that I know the post will spark up a lot of interest. Or do I make a post on a celebrity that won't receive the same kind of attention but is wearing an outfit that I genuinely find interesting and would like to recreate myself?

So, to hell with the Kardashian's along with everyone else and their shitty skintight clothing.
Emma Watson wore this look back in 2014 and it still two years on catches my attention every time I see it. I did put my own twist on the look as Emma is wearing a deep plunge jumpsuit underneath the blazer. I went with pairing the white trousers with a lace bodysuit as I wanted to play around with textures a little more. The whole look I feel is perfect for a lot of occasions, if you don't want to wear a dress or skirt to a wedding you could wear something like this and still look dressed up with just a little more edge.

Apologies for the rant, I am sure a lot of you feel the same as me and sometimes it is nice to spark up a debate in the comments section.

I would love to know your thoughts on the subject!
