The Fashion Post | The Pyjama Trend

Admittedly, the pyjama trend was something I was a little skeptical about when it first arose. Not because I don't want to wear my pyjamas all the time and have it be 'chic', I am definitely down with that. But because I just don't think I am cool enough to pull it off. I see celebrities and other bloggers wearing the look all the time and they look amazing but I just don't see how I can incorporate it into my not so glam life. I can't imagine wearing a silk matching pyjama set to the pub for pints or donning a metallic slip on the overcrowded train to college at 8am.

But this is where I was wrong. Recently I was in Penney's (Primark) and I saw pyjama style tops everywhere (and you know shit is about to be big when it's all over Penneys). It was only then that I realized how possible it is to easily incorporate the trend into my wardrobe without looking like too much of an idiot. A pyjama style top can be easily paired with some relaxed ripped jeans and boots or a pair of silky wide leg trousers can be teamed with an over sized denim shirt. The trend however goes further than just a top and bottom, it comes in all shapes and sizes and in the form of slip dresses too, long or short they are suitable for almost every occasion. I feel my picks above perfectly showcase the versatility of the trend at a completely affordable price.

What are your thoughts on this trend, do you love or hate it?

  1. I'm not a super huge fan of this trend. But I don't mind it when the pieces are more cotton-y (like the pants in the middle bottom photo)!

  11. This was such an entertaining post. I have always wanted to sneak into a store with my pj's on when I go for a quick cup of coffee. Now I can do it and know that it is a fashion statement, lol!

  12. I also was a little skeptikal about this trend, but reading your post made me think about a pyjama style top paired with a pair of jeans. I may pull this off.... maybe. I guess you have to take a walk on the wild side from time to time, as far as fashion is concerned. :) I love your post and your selections. <3

  25. Pajamas a fashion statement?! I am so down with that! I couldn't imagine anything better than rocking up to work in my pjs in the name of fashion. Haha. Love the cute cacti pjs you picked out.

  28. This trend has been around a few times like a boomerang and i'm still not sure about it. I do feel I could pull off wearing one piece at a time P.J top with jeans and boots sounds good to me. Great post : ) xoxo

  30. I love trends like this! I'm not sure this trend would suit me height or shape because I'm super short, but I love unique and original trends and I'm definitely not one to follow the crowd in terms of fashion! Although, I wish it was acceptable to go out and about in your actual pyjamas..

    Great post lovely!

  33. I just can't get on board with this trend - it feels forced to me! Like, it doesn't look that great, but it's all the rage anyway because we need something new and edgy. I don't know, just can't do it! lol
