The Life Post | Twelve Things That Friends Taught Me

Is there really anyone around that isn't a huge Friends fan? The programme has been gracing our tv screens for 22 years, and although filming ended in 2004 we have a lot to be thankful to the lovely six for. Not only did they provide us with the lol's for a decade, they have also taught us a few valuable lessons along the way. Here are just a few of my favourite.

1. Never wear leather trousers on a first date

It might seem like a good idea at the time and they might make your arse look great but it can and probably will end in a sticky disaster.

2.  Starting from the bottom is a rule of thumb

Just like Rachel worked her way up from serving coffee to being an assistant buyer, we too have to start from the bottom and work our way up to get where we want. This takes time, hard work and dedication, but it will eventually pay off.

3. We don't always have to be polite

If you want to eat that whole bar of chocolate without being polite and offering someone else some, that is okay. If your date is eyeing up your chips, well they should have got their own and respect how much of a greedy pig you are, not your problem.

4. Breaks may not be the best idea

No matter how much a relationship can become strained, Ross and Rachel have most definitely taught us that maybe going on a break is not a good plan and will more than likely end in tears.

5. Getting older is inevitable

We may not be happy about it or want to accept it, but it is part of life and eventually we will all turn the dreaded 30.. 40 and so on. We just have to get on with it.

6. When getting a spray tan, always count mississippi-lessly

We've all ended up with a dodgey spray tan at one point or another, but whatever you do, do not end up like Ross.

7. Dance like no one is watching

Life is to short to be self conscious. Dance and prance around like you are the only person in the room.

8. Not everyone has the 'perfect' family

Whatever your family situation is, you are not alone. Whether your parents are divorced or you dad decided to become a woman like Chandler's, a lot of people are in the exact same boat as you and that is normal.

9. Capture every moment

Bloggers will relate to this one the most. When on holidays spend every second of every day snapping away pictures, so in years to come you can relive all of the wonderful memories.

10. We all have looks we regret

From dodgey haircuts to inappropriate outfits. At the time we thought we were just gorgeous but looking back we really weren't. But they are HILARIOUS to reminisce on, so don't worry too much.

11. Be comfortable in your own skin

Whether you're tall, small, thin or curvy, Love and accept you for you. Easier said then done yes, but Joey has the right idea here.

12. In the end, love wins

No matter what, love will always prevail.

My list could keep going but i'll leave it at twelve.
Has friends taught you anything?

  5. Friends is such a fun show. I actually didn't watch it until I saw it playing at the nail salon where I get my nails done. And I've been hooked since, love it!
